Battery Safety Instructions
Risks & Hazards
Improper use of batteries, in particular Li-ion batteries, includes, for example:
- Dismantle the batteries
- Breaking the batteries
- Overheating the batteries
- Overloading the batteries
- Overcharging the batteries,
- Deep discharging the batteries
- Short-circuiting the batteries
may cause them to explode or result in fires and chemical burns. Lithium-ion batteries and lithium batteries contain flammable and/or corrosive solutions which, if leaked, can irritate the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. When batteries or batteries vent, escaping vapors can pose a health hazard.
Risks & Hazards
- NEVER store or transport rechargeable batteries or primary batteries loose, e.g. trouser pocket, wallet, drawer, or when returning. There is a short circuit and risk of fire!
- DO NOT mix brands and models, old and new batteries with different charges.
- Never charge batteries near highly flammable and flammable materials
- Never charge batteries unattended
- Only use chargers that are suitable for the type of battery and battery voltage.
- Never deform, crush, alter, disassemble, puncture, or burn rechargeable batteries or primary batteries.
- Stop using rechargeable batteries and primary batteries if deformation is visible or if the insulation is damaged. These must be professionally disposed of immediately.
- Never operate batteries above the continuous load limit.
- Rechargeable batteries and primary batteries must NEVER come into contact with conductive, corrosive or flammable liquids.
- Stop charging immediately if the battery is deformed or feels too hot (>60°C), or if you notice an unusual smell.
